Domestic Flights
India's major domestic airline, the government run Air India, operates on most of the major domestic routes such as Mumbai-Delhi, Mumbai-Calcutte, Delhi-Calcutta and Mumbai-Chennai (Madras). Deregulation has radically improved service and swollen the number of secondary operators.
Jet Airways, based in Mombai, is the largest private sector airline company operating domestic flights in the country. The airline covers more than 50 domestic destinations with more than 330 flights operating daily. Kingfisher Airlines is based in Bangalore and is a well known as a luxury airline in India. The airline operates flights to around 34 domestic destinations. Kingfisher acquired a considerable number of shares in the low cost Air Deccan in 2007, known as the flight for every Indian. This domestic airline of India has bases in all metropolitan cities and also connects to comparatively smaller cities in India. The affordable rates of Deccan airline make it popular among all sectors of travelers.
Jet Lite is part of Jet Airways and was previously known as Air Sahara. It has a fleet of 20 aircrafts connecting 32 destinations across the country with 141 daily flights. Paramount Airways is one of the leading airlines in South India connecting different parts of this region with each other. MDLR Airlines, GoAir and Jagson Airlines are relatively small domestic airlines operating at various places.
